It’s Galaxy S9 launch weekend: Here are the best deals

The Galaxy S9 is here at last, and with its status as a flagship device, it obviously costs a decent bit of cash. While the Galaxy S9 doesn’t match something like the iPhone X in terms of pricing, the Galaxy S9+ does come close, which puts just how expensive this phone can be into perspective.

Luckily for anyone who wants to make the Galaxy S9 or S9+ their daily driver, all four major networks in Mzansi are running promotional offers on this new device.

Of course, if you prefer to buy without being tied to a contract, you can pick up an unlocked Galaxy S9 directly from Samsung by paying full retail price. That may not be an option for a lot of folks, but if you don’t like being tied to a two-year long payment plan (or three with MTN), it’s pretty much your only one – though these network providers have some tempting deals in place, they only apply if you purchase your Galaxy S9 on a device installment plan. It should be noted, however, that Samsung now also offers financing on the phones it sells direct to consumers, which allows you to pay monthly and also pick your preferred network.

Vodacom

Over at Vodacom, those who were lucky to pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9+ received a Samsung Level U Flex and wireless charger valued at R2599 PLUS a Samsung Original Accessory Voucher worth R500. If you missed that, you can get the S9 on a Smart S plan from just R699pm for 24 months. This only includes 75 all network minutes and 200MB of data (Free once-off 1GB).

MTN

To top Vodacom’s offer, MTN is offering the Galaxy S9 on their Made For Me M deal at R699 pm for 24 months which includes 150 anytime minutes, 100 SMSs and 1GB of data.

Telkom

Telkom’s promotion looks a lot like both Vodacom and MTN’s, as it’s offering R50 off it’s contract price. For R649 you get 100 All-Net Minutes over 24 months and 60GB once-off data valid for 3 months. This includes a 1GB data bundle per month. Opt for the R699 package and you get 2GB per month.

Cell C

Cell C, on the other hand, isn’t even trying to  compete, you can get the Galaxy S9 on its Pinnacle  250 package for R849 pm for 24 months which includes 250MB of data, 250 minutes, 250 SMSs and an additional 1GB of data for 12 months.
