How Amstel brought a Jukebox to life with Cassper Nyovest

Words by Lerato Sepotokele

What could possibly be the perfect way to round up your hectic week on a Thursday evening? If  few cold ones and live music come to mind then you and I were most probably thinking of the same thing. About two weeks ago I spent my Thursday night with the oke that produce the most cool, a bit slow brewed and definitely hard earned Amstel lager.

Amstel have once again brightened the music scene by creating another unforgettable experience for SA music fans. The Bannister Hotel in Braamfontein was the chosen venue which was key in luring one of Cassper’s biggest fans to a seemingly normal night out.

After their little karaoke stunt where AKA surprised one lucky fan by joining him on stage and performing with him, the creatives at Amstel decided to spice things up a bit and make the environment as casual as ever with a HUGE surprise for their fan Reginald Manamela which involved a Jukebox and Hip Hop super star, Cassper Nyovest.

The event was good, although the chosen venue was rather small, we got there just in time for the karaoke event with Reginald being set up like a king. I somehow felt that the event lacked a bit of drive and vibrancy, I mean Cassper was the main attraction after all. There could have been more done in terms of the buildup for the surprise act and sufficient social media buzz for the event, me thinks.

The close up and personal feel was dope, nothing beats an intimate session with one of your favourite artists that oh-so happen to be topping the charts. The overall experience was great, despite having to fight my way to the front in efforts of getting a pic with Cassper, and so were the Amstel beers. Perfectly chilled.
