We’re there, but not there yet.
In a press statement released moments after the press event tonight (31 July), Multichoice finally revealed their next generation decoder with endless explorer capabilities.
Named the ‘Explora’, the new decoder is set to be available at stores from 15 August 2013 at R2499, with preorders already open on their websites and Kalahari.com.
Striking features on the new decoder include a bigger 2TB hard drive, allowing users to record up to 220 hours of HD content, is Internet-ready but these features will only be enables at a later stage and more connectors such as HDMI output, RCA audio/video ports, RF in & out (used for TV Link), Digital audio output, Ethernet port (disabled at launch), USB ports ( for future use hopefully).
The Expora is set to focus on entertainment at hand, whenever the user needs it. “More features will be enabled over the coming months such as delivering content via broadband, setting of remote recordings and one-click BoxOffice rentals, just to name a few,” said Collins Khumalo, CEO of Multichoice Africa.
