Motorola DEFY+ goes easy on the pocket (1 July 2012)
When the press release reads ‘life proof smartphone’, you know we’re sure to try this statement out. And it is exactly that, life proof.
The ‘revamped’ Motorola Defy+ (popularly known as the MB526) is appealing to the eye with its vibrant LCD display and the chunky feel makes you want to hold on to it for infinity. The pocket price of R2899 (as of May 2012) agrees.
To prove the life proof capabilities, we poured 1l water over the device and yet it performed as normal, even after a few accidental falls the device had no scratches. Although we would never promote you to do any of the above. This device runs on Google’s, Android 2.3 ‘Gingerbread’ which makes it more pleasant, ensuring that you won’t get bored with its 500 000+ applications. It boasts with 2GB on-board memory than can be extended via SD memory card (2GB SD card included) up to 32GB. What also caught our eye were the social feeds built-in with this device. If you’re addicted to your twitter, Facebook and other social spaces you won’t miss a single update as these platforms are perfectly synced into one feed for your convenience.
With this being a midrange device, it wops a 1GHz processor (unlike the previous MB8526) with the battery also topped to 1700 mAh – but still, keep your charger handy if you’re going out after work, or will be stuck in traffic – and a 5 megapixel camera with LED Flash that supports video capturing. Once you’re done capturing, you can easily upload your moments to Photobucket, Picasa, YouTube and Last.fm or edit with Instagram.
